Job Description Job Description PURPOSE: Lincoln University
(Jefferson City, MO) is seeking candidates for an academic year
(August-May), tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of
Engineering, to begin in January 2026. This position will serve
existing degree programs in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting
Technology, and Pre-Engineering. We seek candidates who are
interested in student success while promoting and growing our
programs. Primary course demands are currently within civil
engineering/civil engineering technology, but we are interested in
candidates with interdisciplinary interests and training. The ideal
candidate will bring new ideas and interdisciplinary perspectives,
desiring to engage with external entities, and looking for
opportunities while adeptly navigating a resource-constrained
environment. Candidates should articulate a plan for seeking
external support for programs/research, including engagement of
undergraduate students. Flexibility of candidates is desirable,
including a willingness to teach across disciplines where qualified
and able. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Teach undergraduate courses in
engineering, engineering technology, and related fields. ADDITIONAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Contribute to new initiatives and
programs within the department, especially in conjunction with
institutional initiatives to re-envision our engineering and
engineering-related programs. Assess, maintain, run, and provide
recommendations concerning laboratory facilities associated with
the curriculum. Work with external agencies, including partnering
with industry to seek opportunities for students and external
financial support. Advise and mentor students, including through
undergraduate research; serve on departmental, college, and
institutional committees. QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in engineering or
related discipline is preferred; master's degree and professional
licensure is acceptable. Prior experience in engaging diverse
undergraduate students is recommended/preferred. Prior industry
experience or postdoctoral experience is recommended/preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics: Ability
to teach across the civil engineering technology curriculum.
Ability to work with a diverse student and faculty body. Ability to
effectively communicate with persons both inside and outside the
University. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Ph.D. in
engineering or related discipline is preferred; master's degree and
professional licensure is acceptable. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Light
sedentary office work. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and
working on a computer. Ability to lift 25 lbs. This job description
