This position is full - time. Employees are required to work any
shift including the flexibility to work occasional overtime and
weekends based on business need. Our office is located at 2505
MISSION DRIVE, JEFERSON CITY, MO, 65109. We offer 3 weeks to 2
months of training.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Understands, embraces, and models the SSMHC exceptional service
standards
- Responsible for identifying when the need for an interpreter
exists and coordinating the service with the translation vendor and
the ancillary department
- Activate patients in the patient management system upon arrival
on the date of service and assist patients and customers in
navigating throughout the hospital facility
- Perform real - time registration and insurance eligibility for
unscheduled visits, including emergency department patients
- Obtain and enter demographic and other financial and clinical
information necessary for financial clearance of scheduled /
unscheduled accounts
- Ensure all required data elements are collected and validated
for account creation in patient business cycle systems
- Perform insurance eligibility and follow - up with patient and
/ or referring physician office in the event of failed
eligibility
- Daily focus on attaining productivity standards, recommending
new approaches for enhancing performance and productivity when
appropriate
- Maintain appropriate records, files and timely and accurate
documentation in the patient business cycle systems
- Obtain all necessary patient signatures at time of arrival
- Disseminate regulatory documents / forms to patients
appropriately
- Responsible for being able to assist patients in understanding
registration forms, including but not limited to, Medicare
Secondary Payor Questionnaires, Important Message from Medicare
forms, Patient Rights & Responsibilities, Consent of Admission
forms, and Advance Beneficiary Notices
- Ensures that all necessary documents including consents,
insurance card copies, photo IDs, and other documents as deemed
necessary are scanned into the patient business cycle system
- Collect remaining patient liability responsibilities that were
identified during financial clearance
- Ensuring that there is a complete physician order in place at
the time of service
- Responsible for identifying when a new provider needs to be
added to the patient management system
- Responsible for identifying when there are potential identity
red flags and communicating as appropriate
- Responsible for identifying potential patient overlays and
either correcting when applicable or communicating as appropriate
for resolution
- Responsible for understanding eligibility responses from payors
to assist patients in understanding their insurance benefits,
copay, deductible, and coinsurance
- Ensure that financially cleared patients go directly to the
area of service in order to receive treatment, when applicable
- Coordinate with bed placement and ensure appropriate patient
type and status changes are performed in a timely manner
- Assist patients with onsite customer service functions (e.g.,
billing, medical record, and collection inquiries) by coordinating
with other patient business services functions and departments
- Perform collections and cashiering functions and refer patients
to Financial Counseling where appropriate
- Coordinate discharge processing with financial counseling, Case
Management, and Clinicians You'll be rewarded and recognized for

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
- Ability to work any shift including the flexibility to work
occasional overtime and weekends based on business need
- Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this

- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Clear understanding of the impact registration / arrival
services has on patient business services operations and financial
performance Soft Skills:

- Ability to establish and maintain effective, collegial, and
professional relationships with peers, staff, and other regular
contacts

- Verbal and written skills Physical and Work Environment:
- Frequent lifting / carrying and pushing/pulling objects
weighing 0 - 25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive
foot / leg and hand / arm movements
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near
(20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and
distinguish colors
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through
oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning
machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use / data entry
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and
gripping
- Occasional lifting / carrying and pushing / pulling objects
weighing 25 - 50 lbs.
