investors.The Client Needs Research Team is seeking a talented and
experienced Analyst, Financial Planning to conduct rigorous and
thorough quantitative and qualitative analysis focused in the area
of financial planning strategies. The role will include creating
and representing the firm's advice & guidance to a variety of
stakeholders within the firm and externally to help our clients
reach their financial goals. The team's responsibilities include:
developing strategies and considerations for financial
planning-related decisions; authoring strategy reports and
articles; presenting in front of branches, clients, and the
investing public; and serving as a subject matter expert for
financial planning topics.
Client Needs Research is a team within the Advice & Guidance
department, which is part of the firm's Wealth Management and
Solutions (WMAS) Division. The WMAS division drives innovation to
ensure our branch teams and clients have access to high-quality
products, services, and experiences that meet our current and
future client needs. Both the Client Needs Research team and larger
WMAS division play a pivotal role in supporting the firm's goals of
deeply serving clients, and associates serve as the firm's subject
matter experts for their respective areas.
Responsibility Summary:
- Conduct fundamental research and analysis to help develop
advice and guidance on financial planning strategies in areas such
as healthcare, long-term care, emergency savings, education
savings, debt reduction, etc.
- Develop subject matter expertise, and support strategists, to
create and communicate advice and guidance in multiple areas of
financial planning, as well as identify risks and opportunities
related to those strategies based on items such as changes in
client demographics, legislation, economic environment, etc. In
addition, should be able to provide insight on overarching
financial planning concepts.
- Communicate on financial planning strategies in written
materials and verbally in support of Strategists. This could
include FAs, clients, and the investing public.
- Provide service to branches by responding to service requests,
phone calls, and other inquiries.
- This position creates guidance on financial planning strategies
to be used by financial advisors in working with clients. It is not
a client-facing position, and is not expected to consult on
client-specific situations.
- Finance, Accounting, or Economics Bachelor's degree and/or MBA
preferred
- CFP designation or willing to actively pursue it consistent
with department policy. Additional designations related to area of
expertise are helpful (JD, CPA, CLU, CFA, etc.)
- Series 7/66 within six months of hire, consistent with
department policy
- 5+ years' experience as an analyst making recommendations in a
related field or extensive industry experience. Functional
Knowledge
- Demonstrated success as an analyst in areas of high
complexity.
- Solid knowledge of financial planning concepts and strategies.
Knowledge of statistical, economic, and investment concepts
preferred.
- Capable of determining the appropriateness of strategies by
making use of sources such as government reports, trade journals,
technical periodicals, and firm data.
- Experience preparing reports or articles for financial planning
or investment topics, or directly communicating to clients on those
topics.
- Ability to build financial models that examine scenarios and
project outcomes.
- Strong understanding (or expectation of developing a strong
understanding) of the Edward Jones investment philosophy and
business model.
