SummaryThe Plant Manufacturing Engineering Manager will ensure that
new and existing manufacturing processes produce products that meet
EH&S requirements, customer requirements, Company risk
management objectives, quality requirements, and standard labor,
overhead, and material costs. These processes include equipment,
tooling, facilities, methods of standard work, manufacturing
engineering systems, and process controls. Project management and
hands-on engineering management required.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a high level of core technology competence within the
engineering staff
- Direction and coordination of product and process launches
using APQP procedures and principles
- Ensure that the manufacturing process is established with
equipment, tooling, and process controls that can meet customer,
risk, and operational targets
- Ensure that the engineering staff is trained and competent to
apply effective project management skills
- Manage, through direct reports, the implementation of the PM
system and the maintenance and repair of the equipment, tooling,
and physical plant
- Equipment and tooling capacity monitoring and planning
- Maintain environmental regulatory compliance
- Establish a capital budget and expense budget for management
approval
- Maintain metrics on equipment and tooling capacity utilization,
regulatory conformance, launch conformance, process performance,
process control, PM performance, and labor standards
conformance
- Communicate with the Regional Manager regarding capital
planning and management, capacity planning, key product/process
launches, process capabilities, and emerging/ongoing issues
- Improve/maintain technical competency via the hiring process
and PMP process.
- Monitor capacity utilization to ensure OEE conformance and
maintain the 1-year and 5-year capacity plan
- Work closely with production on capacity
issues/opportunities
- Monitor key operational measurables
- Plan PM requirements for all key tooling and equipment and
monitor the system to ensure compliance and performance
- Prepare capital and expense budgets and track conformance
- Mentor the ME team and ensure continuing development
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical
Engineering, or another related technical degree
- 5-7 years minimum experience as a Manufacturing Engineer
working in a similar industry
- Demonstrated experience with structured APQP process
project
- History of successful development and management of project
plans for product launch in an "automotive similar"
environment
- History of planning, development, and management of large
capital projects
- Experience in metal forming and joining technologies -
preferred experience in plant product materials and core joining
processing
- Working knowledge of labor standards
- Knowledge of quality systems: TS16949 & QS 9000
- Knowledge and understanding of CI tools and approaches (ex:
lean manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma)
- Prior experience supervising technical and maintenance staff
preferred
- LCC equipment and tooling sourcing preferred
